In our corner of northwest Georgia by the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, we’re rich in Cherokee and Civil War-era history, as well as the story of American railroads. We represent a journey through time. Less than 30 minutes away is the National Park Service-operated Chickamauga National Military Park, the largest and oldest of its kind, interpreting the events of 1863 for visitors. The Chief Vann House of 1804 is beautifully restored. Just 20 minutes away, see New Echota State Historic Site, once the capital of the Cherokee Nation. A day trip to lovely Chattanooga, Tennessee, is easily done as the distance is only about 30 miles.

After a comfortable night’s rest, that first cup of coffee can be fixed right in your room. Check the morning news on the 32” flat-screen cable television or fire up your laptop, smartphone, or tablet via our free high-speed Wi-Fi Internet service. Heading downstairs, you’ll be served your choice of eggs with sausage and bacon, waffles, hot and cold cereals, pastries, muffins, and bagels, fresh fruit, and all the juice and coffee you can drink. In April through October, the outdoor pool is the place to relax or swim laps. You can also visit our fitness center for a full workout. Each room or suite is equipped with refrigerator, microwave, coffeemaker, hairdryer, alarm clock, and iron with board. Rooms with a whirlpool are available on request.
Visit Dalton Freight Depot downtown to begin exploring railroading history. One of the oldest railroad tunnels south of the Mason-Dixon Line, Tunnel Hill Heritage Center preserves the 1848 Western and Atlantic Tunnel which visitors can walk right through. Five miles north is Atlantic Railroad and Heritage Center, site of a major Civil War skirmish. Visit Red Clay Historic Park, site of the last council grounds for the Eastern Band of the Cherokee Nation. Nature enthusiasts head for Cloudland Canyon State Park on the western edge of Lookout Mountain or drive the 54-mile Cohutta-Chattahoochee Scenic Byway. Closer to home, visit the carpet center’s Designer Dream House, save money at carpet outlets, see Georgia Athletic Coaches Hall of Fame, or take the kids to Lake Winnepesaukah Amusement Park for a fun day out.
